A private house in Kyiv, designed by Oleg Azovsky and Anna Pakhomova, is intended for a young family - modern and purposeful. The customers knew exactly what they wanted to get in the end, therefore, as the architects admit, there were no disagreements in the choice of style: the parties settled on minimalism. The concept of the project is a minimum of details and a maximum of comfort.

"All we have to do is bring the owners' ideas to life, think through the details and functionality," Oleg and Anna say. The customers wanted to see their house modern, with the use of the latest technologies, and the interiors — laconic and unobtrusive. It was possible to create the necessary intonations of comfortable minimalism and fulfill all the wishes of the customers with the help of design solutions and thanks to the "smart home" system that controls sun protection, lighting, sound, heating and ventilation.

The designers divided the house, which has two floors, into zones, giving the first space an active function, and the second - a more intimate one. Thus, on the second floor there are private spaces - the master's bedroom with a spacious dressing room and a bathroom, a children's room with a separate bathroom, a guest room and a laundry room.

The first floor is a spacious entrance hall, a common area consisting of a kitchen, a dining room and a living room, an office, a pantry and a toilet for guests. The storage room belongs to the kitchen area, and the hallway space contains a separate dressing room. The decoration of the living room is a fireplace that is large enough, but practically does not stand out against the general background. Polished metal was chosen as the finishing material, which allowed the fireplace to "hide" in its glare. The same technique was used in the kitchen, where decorating with metal gave the effect of airiness and lightness.

One of the wishes of the customer is to maintain a laconic color scheme. Oleg and Anna designed the space of the first floor and the bedroom of the owners in one muted color, giving the interior integrity. The tone is set by the common area, the walls of which are lined with wood. This solution allowed not only to tint the room, but also provided excellent sound insulation. Children's and guest rooms are also decorated in calm colors, but a lighter color scheme is used.

Working with color in this project was difficult for the architects. Preferring light shades in their works, in this case they went on a kind of experiment — here they had to mute the tones, maintaining a balance in order to avoid excessive drama of the space. Sewing the walls of the common area of the first floor in dark wood, the designers left a light part of the surface opposite the window - natural light makes this "spot" even lighter, which ultimately visually expands the space. And several bright accent design objects in the interior make it lively and dynamic.

Among such accents are authentic items of decor, for example, a sculpture by Sergei Makhno. The authors also selected designer furniture and accessories: a B&B Italia armchair, a Ploum sofa from Ligne Roset in the office, a modular soft system from Lema, a Moooi chandelier in the dining room. Attention is drawn to the bed by Daniele Lago in the bedroom, which has one floor leg, due to which the feeling of a bed floating in the air is created. In the interior, the authors also used exclusive pieces of furniture made according to their own sketches - storage systems in the living area and cabinet, a chest of drawers in the guest bedroom, a partition behind the head of the bed in the main bedroom.

Comfortable minimalism is a direction increasingly exploited by designers. Homes become "smarter" every year, functionality prevails over overt ostentatious luxury, bright, magnificent forms give way to minimalism and monochrome. And the presented design of Anna Pakhomova and Oleg Azovsky can be said precisely from the point of view of these trends: on the one hand, as a harmonious synthesis of intellectual and aesthetic solutions, on the other, as a return to authenticity.
