Origami by Maiimo. Simple things are more verbose

/ Interior /

The history of the Ukrainian furniture brand Maiimo began more than 26 years ago with the family business of Vasyl and Maksym Borysenko. In 2019, they felt that they were ready to make a big leap and launched mass production of modern eco-design furniture for home and business. For their collections, they choose natural materials: mainly plywood, fanel, wood and veneer, and in color solutions they prefer neutral shades, which allows, in their opinion, to find a "balanced balance between aesthetics and functionality."

Currently, Maiimo is developing a collection of Origami cabinet furniture, the source of which is the original decorative and applied art that reveals the beauty of simple things. "We embodied the dynamism, weightlessness, vivacity and originality characteristic of origami in simple forms, thin lines, accented elongated sections, elegant legs and a minimalist ornament of carved handles that resemble the flapping of paper cranes' wings. All these details together are designed to create a feeling of lightness, harmony, and peace in your home," the authors note.

It's amazing how interesting a seemingly ordinary material like plywood can look in object design. In addition, plywood with lamination turned out to be extremely practical: for the Origami models in white, it provides an even coating and easy care, in black - a completely matte surface that does not leave any fingerprints, and for the wooden version, the classic oak veneer and its 3D modification with a unique cell section.
