The reconstruction of Mariupol will cost more than 14 billion dollars - the head of the city Boychenko

It will take 7-10 years to rebuild a city completely destroyed by the Russians.

About this reports informed the head of Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko.

According to him, 1356 Mariupol high-rise buildings have been destroyed or damaged due to the war. Also, about 40% of the private sector was affected by the bombings. Most of the objects of residential infrastructure are not subject to reconstruction, so the plans are to build new ones.

While experts estimate the extent of the damages at more than 14 billion dollars, however, they will be able to name the final cost only after the de-occupation of Mariupol. The European Investment Bank and partner cities, which suffered destruction during the Second World War, have already declared their readiness to help in the reconstruction of the city.

"We cooperate with the teams of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, world-renowned international companies that have relevant experience and use the most modern approaches in assessing damage, losses and needs for the reconstruction of dozens of countries and cities after conflicts and natural disasters.

Partner cities such as Gdańsk, Warsaw, Dresden and Rotterdam, which were destroyed during the Second World War, are also involved in the reconstruction work. We expect that there will be a separate section for Mariupol in the "Marshal's plan" for the whole country," Vadym Boychenko said.
