The final developments of the concept for the reconstruction of public space were presented in Alexandria

On June 5, the Urban Reform team presented the final concepts for the development of public space between Sichovyh Striltsiv and Kozatska streets in Oleksandria. The solutions were finalized based on the ideas, suggestions, and comments that city residents expressed during the previous workshop.

The development of the concept was a continuation of the "Shared Space" workshop, which took place in April. Over the past months, the Urban Reform team has analyzed the collected feedback, summarized residents' suggestions, and worked on forming scenarios for the development of the territory.

The project aims to create an open, inclusive, and modern public space that will meet the needs of Alexandria residents.

During the presentation, the participants were introduced to the final vision of the space, its functional content, and the principles of organizing the territory. The concept takes into account various scenarios of space use - from active leisure and holding events to quiet relaxation among green spaces.

"It was important for us to integrate different ideas into a holistic solution. That is why the final concept is the result of the community's joint work," Urban Reform noted.

Key elements of the concept include landscaped recreation areas, meeting and event spaces, children's and recreational spaces, improving the pedestrian accessibility of the area, and creating a comfortable environment for daily use.

During the event, the team also presented the logic behind the design decisions and explained how residents’ suggestions were incorporated into the final concept. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, provide additional comments, and discuss further steps in the project implementation.

"We sought to find a balance between different requests and create a space that would be comfortable for people of different ages and lifestyles. It was the participation of residents that allowed us to form a better solution," the project team notes.

The next stage will be further work on the implementation of the concept. The project was based on the results of the project "Alexandria: Urban Vision" — the results of a comprehensive study and joint work with residents, which identified the key needs and development potential of the Alexandria community.

The presentation was organized by the Urban Reform spatial development office with the support of the Alexandria City Council.
