"Seven project proposals were submitted for consideration by the competition jury, which were published on the official website of the city of Odessa. The jury determined the relatively best project proposals. "Unfortunately, none of the project proposals can be implemented without significant revision," the message states.
The first place was taken by project No. 241276. Its authors suggest creating flower beds in the style of a French park of the Baroque era and decorating them with granite borders.
Decorative berry bushes and evergreen thyme will be planted around the sophora trees. The fountain in the square on the other side of the opera house is proposed to be replaced with a larger one.
The authors of the project No. 270519, which won the second place, propose to unite the currently cut squares with the help of a covering - paving and gravel - and also to move the carriageway of the streets for barrier-free access.
Parts of the square are proposed to be zoned: the northern part will resemble the "cool green Palais Royal", the southern part will have a dry fountain.
The third project No. 081268 proposes to make the square completely pedestrian. As a result of these changes, 50 parking spaces will be removed, as a temporary alternative it is proposed to place them in the parking lot on Mytnaya Square.
"We propose to plant several trees (namely, the common oak, which already grows nearby and creates a thick, cozy shade) to the right of the theater, separating the square with the fountain from the Theater Square. In this way, each of them will become more cozy", - note the authors of the project.
All participants of the competition were awarded cash prizes in accordance with the terms of the competition. In the future, the best projects will be used for designing.
