The city of Surat is located 240 km north of Mumbai, where the center of the precious stone industry is located - about 90% of diamonds from the entire planet are cut here.

The total area of the Diamond Exchange was more than 656 square meters. It should become a place of work for more than 600 specialists, including cutters, polishers and salespeople.
The building was designed by Indian architecture firm Morphogenesis following an international design competition. 32 billion rupees ($388 million) were spent on its construction.

Images show marble floors and light-filled atriums connecting more than 4700 office spaces, which can also be used as small diamond cutting and polishing workshops. In addition, the building contains 131 elevators, dining, retail, wellness and conference rooms for employees.

The complex also has nine courtyards equipped with places for recreation and water features.
The project is due to welcome its first residents in November after four years of construction work, two of which have been hampered by Covid-related delays.

According to the CEO of the project, Mahesh Gadhavi, the exchange will save thousands of people from commuting to Mumbai by train.
