About this Told me founder of the lighting company Expolight Mykola Kabluka.
“Despite the super-intense competition among projects from America, China, and Mexico, Ukrainian public space received an award in this competition for the first time,” the report says.
A team of architects led by Dmytro Volyk and Ksenia Donetska worked on the reconstruction project of Uspenskaya. The space was created over two years, taking into account modern urban trends, barrier-free design, and comfort for city residents.
At the same time, Expolight created unique lighting solutions for the square.
“Here we created an atmosphere of light and shadow play on the square, combining technological sophistication with natural aesthetics. Adjustable lamps with different optics, installed on high supports, form natural shadows from carefully selected branches and leaves, which we emphasized with additional graphic shadows using special stencils. And hidden lighting under the benches creates soft light below eye level, adding coziness to the space,” notes Mykola Kabluka.
In addition, this project came out in the finals of the ArchDaily 2025 Building of the Year Awards in the category “Public and Landscape Architecture”.
