Van Gogh's favorite region can be turned into a green research hub

The landscape of Brabant, whose landscapes inspired Van Gogh, is planned to be modernized and a research hub dedicated to the artist will be created there.

On initiative Midpoint Brabant, MVRDV and the Van Gogh Homeland Foundation, in the province of North Brabant, are implementing a project that emphasizes Van Gogh's love for the landscape of this region and focuses on the problem of its gradual destruction.

"Combining knowledge in the field of architecture, landscape design and sustainable development together with experience in the field of leisure, the initiators want to rekindle the enthusiasm of both young and old people for the landscape of Brabant," MVRDV studio notes.

The project will include three parts - an attraction, a biennale on the theme "Van Gogh's Homeland" and the educational center Van Gogh Homeland Atelier.

Van Gogh's Homeland Biennale will be held as an open-air exhibition, filled with a series of visited attractions and temporary installations scattered throughout Brabant. Visitors can embark on an expedition through temporary super dunes, garden towers, rain chambers and heather houses.

The first Biennale in Bramant is scheduled for 2025.
