Expo 2020, the largest exhibition in the world, will last 6 months - from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. It will occupy 438 hectares between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and will include 191 author's pavilions from each participating country. Ukraine will present its zone in the concept of "Smart Ukraine: Connecting Dots", tell about Ukrainian culture, show its innovative solutions and introduce modern art.

Ukrainian architect Serhii Makhno

Along with prominent Ukrainian artists such as Stepan Ryabchenko and Oleg Tistol, Ukrainian architect Sergey Makhno and the leading ceramist of his workshop Oleksandr Yarovy present to the world a handmade sculpture from the collection of DIDO zoomorphic ceramics. The name of the ceramic giant is RYK (Ryk) - it rises above everything on earth by almost three meters. Ryk stands guard over the living - protects gardens, forest paths, the noise of rivers and the breathing of those whose hearts are beating. He is the first to meet the morning sun and the last to see it off. He can see the Black Sea and the Carpathians, and sometimes even Jomolungma. Grandfather Rick believes that nature is a point of reference, without it everything loses its meaning. And every day he wakes up to take care of all living things again.

«Everything we create are stories about Ukrainianness, which tell about who we are, where we come from and where we are going. Participating in this exhibition is a matter of honor for me personally and part of the big mission of our studio - to make Ukrainian known all over the world", says Serhiy Makhno, architect, designer, ceramist and founder of the Makhno studio.
