This is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of architecture and design, which receives thousands of applications from studios from more than 90 countries every year.
Nastia Mirzoyan Studio, based in Kyiv, specializes in residential, commercial, and restaurant spaces. Her approach is a combination of play, experimentation, and functionality. It is thanks to this signature style that the designer has become known for her unconventional projects, including:
- Darvina — restoration and rethinking Stalinist apartment in Kyiv, where she preserved historical layers but made the space modern and vibrant;
-
Bursa Bar — a bold and tactile interior created for the Bursa Hotel in Kyiv;
-
educational space and Njoy sex shop, in which Merzoyan breaks down stereotypes by using soft shapes, non-obvious materials, and emphasized inclusivity of design;
- Asian bistro “Kitsunya”, created on the site of a former nightclub on a limited budget.
“Her interiors demonstrate a deep understanding of context, but with a playfulness that challenges tradition. From custom-made furniture to thoughtful surface design, she has proven her talent for creating spaces that are both captivating and welcoming,” the jury said in a statement.
As a reminder, Dezeen Awards 2025 announced list of the best architectural projects. The project of the year was the Zurich Children's University Hospital, designed by Herzog & de Meuron.
