Thanks to this decision, the temperature in the developed areas became 6 degrees lower, write White Mad. We are talking about Else-Feldman and Esterhazypark parks, the reconstruction of which began in 2018 and was completed the day before.
Projects on the creation of functional green zones in these territories were developed on the basis of public discussions and negotiations with local institutions and associations.

During the construction of Else-Feldman Park, one of the nearby streets was closed and turned into a square with dozens of trees and bushes. A public space and bicycle paths were built there.

The area of Esterhazipark was equipped with fountains that work according to the principle of irrigation systems. They create a cool mist that lowers the overall temperature in the environment.

In order to install the so-called "water mist" system, it was necessary to completely dismantle the sidewalk and lay a new sewer. Rest areas in the form of benches with shading structures were installed next to the fountains. Thus, the temperature index decreased by 6 degrees, compared to other parts of the city.

According to the local authorities, the number of similar projects in Vienna will increase, because green areas and new parks contribute to lowering the temperature throughout the city and help to fight the consequences of climate change.
