In Vienna, they started installing solar panels on parking lots

The city of Vienna has implemented the installation of solar panels in parking lots to increase electricity production.

About this reports the edition of The Mayor.

Last week, local authorities in Vienna announced a new solar panel installation scheme. The program should cover areas that have great energy potential. In particular, these are parking lots, gas stations and warehouses, as well as spaces with flat areas that receive unobstructed sunlight.

Currently, according to the city, about 5000 photovoltaic systems are installed on rooftops, facades and open spaces throughout the city, both public and private. But this is not enough to achieve complete climate neutrality.

The city allocated 1,5 million euros for the implementation of the project.
