The renovation of this part of the square was a continuation of the changes that began three years ago. At that time, 28 large trees were planted in the square, including lindens, hawthorns and pears. Some of the trees were grown in nurseries for more than ten years before they were brought to the city center. Children from local schools and kindergartens joined the planting, who symbolically took the trees under their care. Commemorative plaques were installed near each tree, write WhiteMAD.

The previous reconstruction sparked a broader discussion about the amount of green space in the city center and the need to reduce space for cars.
For a long time, the territory belonging to the Ministry of Development and Technologies remained problematic. The city could not carry out work there, since the site was not under its jurisdiction. However, after negotiations with the ministry, the parties managed to reach an agreement that allowed the reconstruction of the parking lot to begin.
The project will remove the concrete paving, including the characteristic "pocket" near the sidewalk. In its place will be an avenue of linden trees, which will continue the green line of trees on the eastern side of the square, near Książenca Street.
The new landscaping also includes the creation of lawns, perennial flower beds, planting of flowers and a cotoneaster hedge. Magnolias will be planted near the stairs leading to the ministry building.
The work has already started - the builders have begun dismantling the pavement. The next stage will be the expansion of the pedestrian space near the existing crossing, which should make movement in this part of the square more comfortable. The investment cost is estimated at approximately 94 thousand euros.
