In Stockholm, part of the park near the Russian Embassy will be called the Place of Free Ukraine

As a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the Swedish capital, a part of the park near which the Russian Embassy is located will be called the Place of Free Ukraine.

About this reports Said the mayor of Stockholm, Anna König Järlmuir, writes Europe-cities. She assured that the toponym will remain unchanged for a long time. 

"This will be a lasting symbol of Stockholm's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and an important signal against the actions of the Russian regime," the official stressed.

As noted in the message, such a decision is connected with the renaming of a number of geographical objects in other countries, which thus sought to demonstrate solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

We will remind you that since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, similar decisions have been made in several countries at once. 

In particular, in the Czech Republic, a bridge near the Russian Embassy have been named in honor of the Ukrainian sapper Vitaly Skakun, and the street nearby is now named in honor of Ukrainian heroes. Also, the street where the Russian Embassy is located, renamed to Heroes of Ukraine Street. In addition, there is a metro station in Paris received the name Europe-Ukraine.
