In Stockholm, a part of the park near the Russian Embassy will be called the Place of Free Ukraine

As a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the Swedish capital, a part of the park near the Russian Embassy will be named the Place of Free Ukraine.

This was was reported by by the head of Stockholm, Anna König Järlmür, Europe-cities publication reports. She assured that the place name will remain unchanged for a long time.

"This will be a lasting symbol of Stockholm's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and an important signal against the actions of the Russian regime," the official emphasized.

According to the report, this decision is connected with the renaming of a number of geographical objects in other countries, which thus sought to demonstrate solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, similar decisions have been made in several countries. 

In particular, in the Czech Republic, the bridge near the Russian Embassy was named in honor of the Ukrainian sapper Vitaliy Skakun, and the nearby street is now is now named in honor of Ukrainian heroes. Also, the street where the Russian Embassy is located was renamed to the street of Heroes of Ukraine. In addition, a metro station in Paris was renamed the name Europe-Ukraine.
