French architect Vincent Callebaut proposes to create a residential area in Switzerland only for pedestrians and cyclists.

About this reports write by Designboom.

The eco-district is planned to be located near Lake Geneva, in the canton of Vaud. The project envisages its full integration into the local landscape.

The architect proposes to create a park with an area of 10 square meters intended only for pedestrians and cyclists. Its territory will include not only trees, but also meadows with flowers.

In addition to the park, the project includes residential green areas, a 117-meter shopping center tower designed by Stefano Boeri, restaurants, workshops, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and the revival of old greenhouses.

Water is also an important component of the framework of this area. Rainwater will flow between the houses in "chains" into one continuous reservoir. In the basement, osmotic pumps will be installed, which will filter the water coming from the kitchens and bathrooms of the housing, for further use in the sanitary facilities.

It should be noted that there is also a parking lot here, but it is inconspicuously placed exclusively under the contour of the buildings, and not between them.

In all apartments, the zones are divided according to the cardinal directions: the living rooms are located to the south, and the bedrooms are to the north. In this way, the activity in the house will correspond to the movement of the sun.

In addition, each of these apartments has large panoramic balconies that offer a view of the Alps and Lake Geneva on one side and provide the necessary shade to avoid overheating of the living spaces on the other.

These landscaped balconies are equipped with string planters, which allows you to grow sustainable vegetation and create home gardens. Restoration of vegetation also makes it possible to lower the temperature in the room by 3-5 degrees.
