In this way, they plan to turn leaves, grass and branches into organic fertilizer, and then use them for greening the city.

About this reported the edition of The Mayor.

The municipal enterprise Rīgas Meži, which takes care of forests and parks, will create the first site in Latvia for composting garden and park waste that appears every autumn. The resulting fertilizer will be used to improve the city's green spaces.

"This project was implemented at a record pace! A careful assessment of the enterprise's expenditure positions showed that the costs of waste disposal are increasing sharply. It was clear that radical action was needed to solve this problem. In cooperation with Rīgas Údeni, a fast, reliable and inexpensive solution was found. In this way, we can give a second life to all organic waste in our territories!" - Anita Skudra, the head of the board of Rigas Meži, reports.

For composting, they chose an area that meets all the requirements: it is located outside the city, but not far from it, the territory was fenced off and an information board was installed there.
