The premises at Sobornosti 26/14 in Poltava are currently undergoing transformation. Previously, there was an institution here, and later work will begin on a new one. During the transition period, the space will be used to exhibit art.
The exhibition project is being implemented by the “We Are Excited” team, with the initiative and support of Dmytro Sobakary. Admission to the “Primary Elements” exhibition will be free.
“Most likely, every Poltava resident at least once a week walks around the space that we will use and knows it. But temporarily it will be managed by art. And I believe that this publicity will inspire both business and artists to take such initiatives in the future. And Poltava residents to interact more with contemporary Ukrainian art,” emphasizes Alena Romashko, art manager, author of the cultural initiative “We are excited.”

Artists and members of the initiative group Instytut Avtomatyky Maksym Mazur, Andriy Pidlisny and Nika Shumeiko will present their works. Working with spaces atypical for exhibitions is a consistent part of the practice of Instytut Avtomatyky. The group is part of a wider artistic community that spontaneously formed in the building of the Kyiv Institute of Automation.
This environment functions as a self-organized network of artists and initiatives, in which exhibition activities, work creation, and collective interaction occur outside institutional frameworks.

The exhibition project "Primary Elements" will focus on the fundamental components of artistic practice: material, space, time, experience, and interaction. The works will not refer to any recognizable objects, people, or places from the real world.
Artists will use materials with different textures: from concrete to fabric. And the space itself will also be a full-fledged participant in the exhibition.
"In a situation of instability and the absence of a stable institutional infrastructure, artistic practice returns to basic conditions: personal and collective experience. In this context, art appears as a work with its primary elements - material, gesture, space, rhythm, pause, contrast, and color," notes Maksym Mazur.
The project can also be considered a kind of homecoming. Maksym Mazur and Nika Shumeiko are originally from Reshetylivka. For them, this exhibition will be an opportunity to present their work in their native region for the first time.
