In Madrid, the walls of the ring road will be equipped with vertical landscaping

In Madrid, the local authorities decided to equip the concrete walls of the ring road with vertical landscaping.

According to write The Mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida announced the start of the Calle 30 Natura project, which will last six months. First, a 400-meter section of the highway on Avenida de la Ilustración will be covered with vegetation.

In total, urban planners plan to cover with vegetation 100 square meters of concrete walls along the ring road. The total cost of the project is 000 million euros.

Functional types of vegetation resistant to temperature changes and with low water consumption will be used for the walls. In addition, they will have an automated irrigation and monitoring system to keep the vegetation in optimal condition. Pollution sensors will also be installed in vertical gardens.

According to the city authorities, landscaping will increase the level of visual appeal of the road, besides, thanks to the idea, the appearance of graffiti on the walls will be prevented.
