The district court of the capital of Lithuania gave the building inspection the right to demolish the "Moscow House" and fined the state institution that manages the building in the amount of 300 euros for each day of delay in implementing the decision.
"After the court gave the right to the archbudinspection to demolish the illegally erected structure, an estimate for its dismantling will be prepared in the near future and a public procurement procedure will be carried out to select a contractor who will carry out the work. It is planned that they will be completed by the end of 2023," the message reads.

The experts who carried out the inspection explain that the legislation does not provide for the possibility of alienating arbitrarily erected structures, therefore the only possible legal way is their demolition.
By the way, in December 2016, the court invalidated the construction permit document issued by the Vilnius municipality in 2008, and obliged the developer to obtain a new permit and, in accordance with it, to reconstruct the building. Otherwise, the state institution had to demolish it.
The idea of the "House of Moscow" in Vilnius arose in 2004 after the visit of the then mayor of the Russian capital, Yuriy Luzhkov, to Lithuania. At the same time, it was decided to implement a similar project of the Vilnius building in Moscow.
However, already in 2016, the district court of the city of Vilnius partially satisfied the lawsuit of the building inspectorate and recognized that the permit issued by the municipality for the construction of the structure is illegal, because it violates the requirements regarding the height and density of the building, established by the municipality itself in the detailed description of the plan of this territory.
