The city also established additional requirements and conditions for the installation of illuminated advertising and signs.

Appropriate decision approved November 21 during a meeting of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.

The restrictions apply, in particular, to the illumination of outdoor advertising on building facades, special structures, and other media after the end of business hours.

Exceptions are provided only for objects of the street and road network and critical infrastructure. Control over the implementation of the decision is entrusted to the police. The city council emphasizes that the new rules are based on documents of the Lviv region's defense council from 2022 regarding the need to save electricity.

In addition, the executive committee detailed the powers of the Administrative and Technical Department and district administrations regarding the dismantling of unauthorizedly installed technical elements on facades. These include electronic displays, monitors, screens, LED strips, lamps, air conditioners and other structures with dynamic lighting. The restrictions also apply to internal advertising that is broadcast outside.

According to Taras Kubay, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Construction, these steps will allow for more effective regulation of the placement of signs and illuminated advertising in the city, as well as reducing light pollution and noise for residents.

Entrepreneurs are reminded: to obtain permission to install illuminated advertising or signs, you must contact the Department of Architecture and Spatial Development of the Lviv Regional Administrative District.
