About this reported the Lviv City Council on the official website.
The chief architect of the city, Anton Kolomeytsev, notes the winning project for combining the interests of all users - both pedestrians and drivers, as well as for taking into account the development of the public transport network and road safety.
"This is actually an unprecedented project, because until now competitions for street reconstruction have not been held not only in Lviv, but also in Ukraine. We now have a working model where architects work with transport experts to organize street space. This speaks of the very status of the street - it is not only about the road, but also about public space, bicycle and pedestrian paths, tram tracks, etc.," Kolomeytsev notes.
The winning team of the Institute of Spatial Development from Lviv: Serhiy Fialkovskyi, Rostyslav Bilinskyi, Andriy Chayko, Viktoriya Skobylko and Oleg Shmid.
"In the winning project, on the one hand, there are separate lanes of public transport that stretch along the entire length of the street - up to the exit in the direction of the Goloskiv cemetery. On the other hand, there are traffic lanes that are well regulated by traffic lights.
A common lane for buses and trams is also proposed. This gives an opportunity to consider the widest possible transport network, including connecting Mykolaichuk Street with both radial and concentric directions of traffic around the city. Adapted stops and a common lane of public transport give a very big advantage, extremely important in this place - the unhindered connection of ambulances with the hospital", - comments the chief architect of the city.
We would like to remind you that the tender for the reconstruction of Mykolaichuka Street was launched at the end of 2021. Specialists from Kyiv and Lviv took part in it.
