In Latvia, a draft law will be considered, which provides for the mandatory demolition of all the country's monuments related to the Soviet regime. The final decision rests with the parliament.

The draft law will be voted on in June. If the initiative is supported, a number of objects, including the monument to the Soviet liberators in Pardaugava, must be dismantled by November 15, 2022. the published by LSM Media. The dismantling law will not only apply to military burials and cemeteries.

By the way, on May 12, the Latvian Seimas decided to terminate the 13th article of the Latvian-Russian treaty, which guaranteed the protection of Soviet monuments. The prerequisite for this was the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine.
