As the initiators of the survey explain, the name "Mostytska" remains a working one for now, as it does not correspond to the actual location of the station: the facility will be approximately a kilometer from the Mostytska massif. That is why Kyiv residents are offered to choose one of the alternative names related to local history and toponymy.
There are three options available in the vote:
- “Rogostinska” – this option is called the most appropriate. The name comes from the Rogostinka River, which flows nearby in the Syretskyi Gai park. The post also notes that the ancient name of this territory, “Rogostinska land”, was first mentioned in the 15th century, and by the middle of the 19th century, the Rogostinka hamlet had formed on the banks of the river.
- “Rogoziv Yar” – the name is associated with the natural tract Rogoziv Yar, located nearby. It was formed by the Rogostinka River and is now part of the Syretskyi Gai park.
- “Zamkovyshche” is the name of a historical area located approximately 500 meters from the future metro station. According to one version, in the 17th century there was a country residence of Catholic priors here, which could have influenced the origin of the name. The development of Zamkovyshche as a residential and summer residence, the authors of the article note, began at the end of the 19th century.
Poll is already available in the “Kyiv Digital” application. Kyiv residents are urged to join the vote and choose the name that best reflects the historical and geographical context of the district.
Renewal: The vote for the new name of the Mostytska metro station has now been canceled.
