The competition was dedicated to rethinking the space of the Mykhailo Boychuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design, which underwent significant damage due to Russian missile strike in March 2024. Damage was caused to educational buildings, workshops, a sports hall, and exhibition spaces.
The participants were asked not only to restore the destroyed facilities, but also to form a vision of a modern open campus that would combine education, art, culture, sports and public space. The tasks included creating a barrier-free environment, developing recreational areas, integrating art spaces and rethinking the territory around the symbolic space "Tree of Life".
The restoration of the first building of the academy is taking place with the support of UNESCO.
The first category of winners included projects by the following authors:
- Bondar D.Ya., Horobenko E.M. (Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture);
- Chernenko D.Yu. (NAOMA);
- Titova M., Ilko K. (UDUNT NNI PDABA);
- Bachynskyi D., Gayovych G., Dzyuba S., Yamborko A. (National University “Lviv Polytechnic”);

Awards in the second and third categories were received by authors from academies and universities in Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Dnipro, and Mariupol.
The special award “Students' Choice” was won by the project of Elizaveta Afonina and Maria Filimonova.
According to the organizers, the presented works demonstrate different scenarios for the development of the future Boychuk Art Campus and show how architecture can contribute to the restoration of educational and cultural institutions after destruction.
The exhibition of competition projects continues at the Architect's House in Kyiv.
