Housing reconstruction in Ukraine requires the implementation of universal rapid construction technologies that allow the construction of sustainable and affordable buildings even in conditions of limited resources. Due to the war, many buildings in Ukraine have been destroyed. The remains of concrete structures can be effectively recycled and used to build new housing. 3D printing of concrete compared to traditional construction methods can provide higher construction rates, significantly less use of human resources, as well as savings in materials and energy.
The goal of the project is to create innovative concrete mixtures using waste, including destroyed structures, for construction using 3D printing and traditional methods.
As part of the project, researchers are developing a concrete mix with the addition of materials that are formed as a result of the destruction of buildings and other industrial and agricultural waste.
As a result, an innovative recipe and technology for using concrete mix will be developed, which will be used in Ukraine, Poland, and the USA for the construction of civil and military buildings and structures. The duration of the project is 2 years.

The project is co-funded by the US Office of Naval Research and the US National Science Foundation (NSF). The research is being conducted within the framework of the multilateral partnership initiative "International Multilateral Partnership for the Sustainability of Education and Science in Ukraine (IMPRESS-U)", launched by the Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE) of the US National Science Foundation with the involvement of researchers from Stony Brook University in the US and the Jan and Jędrzej Sniadecki University of Technology in Bydgoszcz in Poland.
At KNUBA, the implementation of this project is entrusted to teachers, graduate students, and students of the Faculty of Construction Technology, in particular the Department of Building Materials and the Department of Technology of Building Structures and Products.
