In Kyiv, air conditioners and illegal extensions will be removed from historical buildings

The Kyiv City Council adopted a decision according to which the owners of apartments in cultural heritage sites must bring the facades of buildings located in the historical center of the capital to proper condition.

About this said on the website of the state institution.

According to the new rules, it will be illegal to install air conditioning systems during the maintenance, restoration or overhaul of historic buildings.

Restrictions will also apply to any changes to the facade. In particular, it was forbidden to insulate, glaze or expand balconies and loggias.

In addition, from now on it is not possible to carry out additions, create new or expand existing window openings, as well as change the shape and colors of window frames and balcony doors.

The control of this decision will be carried out by the Department of Urban Development and the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection. If an offense is discovered, it is promised to be dismantled.

It is worth noting that the draft law developed in February, before the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russian troops. Specialists, urban planners and public activists worked on it for almost two years.
