Kharkiv plans to spend UAH 400 on "warming" the fountain with monkeys and flower beds

Part of the public is outraged by such expenditures and questions their feasibility in wartime.

About this reports the edition "Nakipilo" with reference to the "Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center".

Thus, KP "Kharkivzelenbud" wants to purchase the cover for the scandalous monkey fountain and flower beds from "Kharkiv Multiprint" LLC for UAH 408.

In particular, the dome-cover for the fountain costs UAH 175, and the canopy for the flower bed costs UAH 232. However, there are no contract documents on the public procurement website.

As anti-corruptionists note, it is about "warming up" the fountain with monkeys. "Kharkivzelenbud" allegedly planned to purchase a canopy for the facility as early as 2020, laying down UAH 1,37 million for the purchase. During the tender, the contractor company, which offered to make a canopy for 800 thousand UAH, won the bidding. But then the city still refused the purchase due to the reduction of expenses.

"Such manipulations are often used by buyers in order not to sign contracts at cheaper prices, but not with "their" contractors," the HAC explains.

The monkey fountain was opened in 2019. There are 7 animals that move to the music on the structure, which is more than 13 m high. At that time, the Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center stated that the cost of the fountain was UAH 50 million.
