According to the new changes, as part of decommunization, 10 streets and alleys will be named after Ukrainian Heroes who died in the fight against the Russian invaders.
As Oleksandr Simchyshyn noted, the city council will now be located on Heroiv Street in Mariupol. A number of toponyms will also appear here, which will be renamed in honor of specific Ukrainian Heroes. Some of them asked to be renamed at the initiative of the residents, the mayor noted.
"There will be Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Vasiliev Street in the Rakove microdistrict. This is our hero, a division commander, a rocket operator of the 19th brigade, who died in battle. There will be Oleksandr Petrikivskyi street. This is the former Lanova Street, where Hero lived, at the initiative of the residents themselves. Kozheduba Street will be named after the Hero of Ukraine, our legendary pilot Oleksandr Oksanchenko," says Simchyshyn.

Also, the main transport highways of the city will now be named after prominent Ukrainian historical figures.
"In particular, Tolstoy Street is now Prince Svyatoslav the Brave, Krasovsky Street is Ivan Mazepa Street, Kuprin Street is Simon Petlyura Street. In addition, in Khmelnytskyi, from now on, there will be a Street of Border Heroes next to the border academy," the official says.
