A 72-year-old French woman stole an art object from an exhibition of a series of works at the Picasso museum.

About this tells Artnet edition.

The visiting institution took one of the exhibits with her - a blue work jacket. After that, she took the art object to a tailor to tailor it to the required dimensions.

The French woman was recorded by surveillance cameras, so when she came to the exhibition again, she was detained by law enforcement officers. The suspect immediately confessed to the crime, but said she didn't know it was a piece of art and thought someone had simply left the jacket inside.

After a search of her apartment, the exhibit was discovered and it was found out that it had shortened sleeves. What was found was returned to the museum, and the pensioners issued a warning.

The stolen art object belonged to the series of works "Old Masters" by Oriol Vilanova, within which the pockets of the blue jacket were filled with postcards with images of the works of the greatest figures in the history of art, in particular, at this exhibition with paintings by Picasso.

After this situation, a question arose with the security system of the museum in which the exhibition was held, but it turned out that the employees had previously suggested to the artist to fix the jacket in a more reliable way so that it could not be detached from the wall.

Vilanova refused, because his idea was that visitors could easily "manipulate the work", examine the postcards and the thing itself from different angles.
