In Buchi, during the renaming of toponyms, they decided to keep the street names in honor of Bulgakov and Gogol.

About this reports said in the decision of the Buchansk City Council.

In total, there were 42 toponyms in the list for renaming in Buchi. Thus, Vatutin, Gagarin, Gorky, Griboyedov, Lermontov, Nekrasov, Tolstoy and Turgenev streets were renamed in the city as part of de-Russification and decommunization.

The names were chosen through an open questionnaire vote of citizens, which were then agreed upon by the commission.

At the same time, the deputies of the city council decided to keep the old names for Bulgakov Street, as well as the alley and Gogol Street.

We will remind you that last November in Buchi removed a commemorative plaque to Mykhailo Bulgakov from the place where the family estate supposedly used to be.
