◉ Kharkiv "Stonehenge" for almost one and a half million hryvnias
In December, an unusual sculptural complex called "Scythian Heritage" appeared on a wasteland in the Industrial district of the city. The new art object, designed by developers from Palmaz Group LLC, was supposed to attract tourists, but instead caused mass indignation. As a conclusion, the city hall refused to pay the authors for the installation, the cost of which was initially estimated at 1,5 million hryvnias.
◉ The scandalous sculpture of Mozat's son in Lviv
In autumn, Lviv residents supported two petitions related to the sculpture of Franz Xavier Mozart. In the first, they demanded that it be dismantled, in the second - to preserve it. Since the author of the object, Sebastian Schweikert, depicted the son of Wolfgang Mozart allegorically, not everyone was able to appreciate its symbolism and imagery. In the end, the city authorities refused to dismantle the sculpture.
◉ The long-awaited appearance of Respublika Park in Kyiv
The Respublika Park shopping and entertainment center with an area of 300 m2 was opened on November 12. He raised a wave of discussions living park inside the main atrium. About 2 trees and plants, imported mainly from Holland, were planted there.
◉ "Unforeseen circumstances" near the Kyiv Opera House
In October, Mykhailo Deyak's sculpture "Unforeseen Circumstances" was installed in front of the National Opera of Ukraine as part of the WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS project. With the help of a QR code, Kyivites could express their attitude both to the composition in particular and to modern art in Ukraine in general. It is interesting that the majority of respondents approved to atypical sculptures in the historical space of the city.
◉ "Crystal Wall of Crying" by Maryna Abramovych in Babiny Yar
40-meter wall wide, created from domestic coal and decorated with Brazilian quartz, will be installed on the territory of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in October. The public has been actively discussing the art object from the legendary Marina Abramovych ever since the project concept was announced. Some were happy that Ukraine managed to establish cooperation with the famous Serbian artist. Others called the installation inappropriate and indelicate, separately there were also questions about the sources of its funding.
◉ Sculptural composition Inside in Dnipro
The art object appeared in the city at the beginning of September. According to the idea of the designer Valery Kuznetsov, it symbolizes people and the psychology of the internal processes of each person. Individual elements of the composition - metal sculptures - look like two knots and weigh more than a ton. The furnished space is the final composition of seven installations on the reconstructed Yavornytskogo Street.
◉ A truck fell into the newly opened "dry" fountain on Arsenalnaya
On September 1, a new public space was opened on the renovated Arsenal Square. It was landscaped, made barrier-free, the lighting was updated and a "dry" fountain with lighting was installed. The next day, a truck ran over the fountain and destroyed it. The event stirred up massive discussion and controversy, with the aim of identifying the culprits of the incident. It should be noted that the fountain was repaired and resumed its operation quite quickly.
◉ Opening of the urban park on VDNG
The public space on the territory of the expo center was liked by the majority of Kyivans, because it is free and available for lovers of active recreation 26 hours a day. However, the opening of the park, which was planned for August XNUMX, was not without obstacles. At first, the planned activities had to be postponed due to the rain, and later the sports ground was flooded by a downpour.
◉ Artificial Intelligence created “Sounds of Cities”
For the first time in Ukraine, the sounds of cities were materialized. Initiated before the 30th anniversary of Independence, the project, according to the authors' idea, was supposed to combine art and technology, memories and people's feelings. To create a series of art objects, the sounds of Ukrainian cities were recorded and processed using special visualization and sound design programs. That is, artificial intelligence transformed the sounds into a form, which was then printed on a 3D printer. The sculptures were designed for Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odessa, Mariupol and Crimea.
◉ Beach complex with swimming pools in "Faina Town"
In June, a beach complex with a recreation area and two open-air swimming pools was officially opened on the territory of the Faina Town quarter. This is the first full-fledged resort area within the residential complex of Kyiv.
