"Contradicts common sense." Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office about the Kyiv City Council's decision to allocate UAH 183 million for the completion of the bridge

/ Urbanism /

It is about the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge over the Dnipro.

"Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office expresses concern in connection with the adoption by the Kyiv City Council of a decision on the allocation of an additional 183 million hryvnias from the city budget for the completion of the Podilsk-Voskresen bridge crossing over the Dnipro River and calls on the capital authorities to react as soon as possible", - official sites of both clubs report representatives of the institution.

In particular, it was established that the need for the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge crossing was determined by the General Plan of the capital for 1985-2055. The construction of the crossing began in 1993 and continues to this day. During this period, the estimated cost of the works was repeatedly increased, and as of October 13.10.2021, 19,9, it was approved in the amount of UAH XNUMX billion.

Therefore, the prosecutor's office considers the construction of a new bridge out of time, considering that a significant number of residential and public buildings and critical infrastructure objects were damaged in Kyiv as a result of shelling.

"The decision to allocate UAH 183 million in additional funding for the completion of the bridge crossing, the construction of which has been in progress for almost 30 years, contradicts common sense and does not contribute to the rational use of the city budget funds," the message says.

Therefore, the head of the Kyiv city prosecutor's office appealed to the Kyiv mayor with a request to consider the issue of canceling the relevant decision at the session of the Kyiv council. Instead, these funds are advised to be directed to more urgent needs of the capital. The prosecutor also urged the city authorities to take a more balanced approach to the issue of allocation of funds from the budget and take into account the current realities of the war. Therefore, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office expects an answer in this regard within the deadline set by law.

We will remind you that on October 11, during the plenary session, the Kyiv City Council decided to increase the amount of funding for the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresen bridge crossing and to allocate 183 million hryvnias from the city budget for its completion.
