The exhibition "Media addiction. Ukrainian version"

/

On November 20, the National Center "Ukrainian House" opened a new exhibition of contemporary art by the famous curator Victoria Burlaka, who conducted an in-depth study of the aspect of post-media in Ukrainian art from the 80s to today.

"Media addiction is a disease of time. Everything and everyone is now inclined to it - including art, - said Victoria Burlaka. — For ten years, I observed the optical transformations of modern art, wrote, analyzed. At first glance, we got a rather strange mix - I carefully tried to mix yesterday's and today's post-media art - classics and beginners. Some of them are students of my School of Contemporary Art and a matter of particular pride. This also became a huge challenge for me — promoting young and talented people to the big art scene."

Director of the Ukrainian House, Olga Vieru, about the opening of the exhibition: "Today we present the exhibition of contemporary art, Media Dependence, by the well-known curator, deep and thoughtful researcher Victoria Burlaka. Victoria wrote yesterday about the importance of the project for her and thanked everyone for their trust, and we consider it necessary to thank Victoria and everyone who helped, for this project, for supporting young artists and for their dedication to the cause.

It is very important for us that we start our reboot with a cultural program and a project representing modern art, because we are sure that culture is the basis of our existence, and supporting modern art and developing its perception is a sign of a civilized society.

After all, modern art is not an invented illusory world, but reality. It is very open, conveys life as it is. Makes you think, because it is an art of uncertain meaning. And it arouses interest in everything that is happening today.

We live in times of rapid changes, and the Media Addiction project is about changes, changes in focus, and a new perspective of the artist. And we are very happy to once again welcome to the Ukrainian House contemporary artists, very famous and quite young and talented, project participants and their friends.

I want to express my gratitude to all the guests, all the people and organizations that support the Ukrainian House, partners. And I especially warmly want to thank the entire team of UD, who worked inspired and enthusiastically on the project, as well as the project manager Alisa Hryshanova for her great work together with the curators."
