Mostytska metro station in Kyiv will receive a new name before opening

In 2026, Kyiv residents will be able to determine the final name for the new metro station, which currently appears in the documentation as "Mostytska".

Appropriate initiative supported City Naming Commission at its meeting on December 5.

The station, whose construction on the Green Line of the capital's metro is scheduled to be completed next year, has received a temporary project name, which, as the Commission notes, incorrectly reflects its actual location. The future station is being built at the intersection of Bilytska, Mezhova, and Viktor Nekrasov streets - at a considerable distance from the Mostytskyi massif, with which the name is not associated.

In the “Kyiv Digital” application, Kyiv residents will be offered three options to choose from:

  • "Rogostinska" is a name associated with the Rogostinka River and the ancient "Rogostinska land", mentioned since the 15th century;
  • “Rogoziv Yar” is a variant referring to a natural tract near the construction site;
  • “Zamkovyshche” is the name of a historical area that was the residence of Catholic priors in the 17th century and began to be built up at the end of the 19th century.

The city administration emphasizes that the renaming will not entail additional costs: the project name exists only on paper, so the final version must be determined before the station opens and navigation is installed.

The rating voting procedure will take place in “Kyiv Tsiforovy”. The option that receives the most support will be submitted for consideration by the Commission on Names to the Kyiv City Council.
