The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced the renaming of Kyiv metro stations, symbolizing the connection with Russia or Belarus.

According to the mayor, the Kyiv City Council will consider the issue of name change at the next session.
"So that the names of the capital's metro stations remind us, Kyivites, of positive changes and who our true friends are. And they did not glorify those who send hordes and death to Ukrainians here. We will definitely consider this issue and take the right steps," Vitaliy Klitschko said.

In particular, they plan to de-Russify the Minsk station - they want to name it after Polish Warsaw.
"If there are threats to us from Minsk, planes take off from the territory of Belarus to bomb and launch missiles at our houses - some kind of unfriendly reminder. I am convinced that "Minsk" can become "Warsaw". This is a city that helps Kyiv," said the city's head.
We will remind that the day before, the head of the Kyiv Metro, Viktor Braginskyi turned to Klitschko with an appeal about the necessity of renaming Kyiv metro stations connected to Russia and Belarus.
In particular, he emphasized the names of 5 stations, including "Lev Tolstoy Square", "Beresteiska", "Minska", "Heroiv Dnipro". The "Friendship of Peoples" station is of particular concern.
