About this reports informed local historian Anton Korob.
Windows were broken in the building, the roof and part of the facade were completely destroyed. Houses located on the territory near the main building were also damaged.
It is worth noting that the Novgorod-Siversk Male Gymnasium was founded in 1808, the main building appeared later - in 1843. The building was built in the style of late classicism, but during the Soviet era it lost its architectural features.
Due to the fact that the windows were hewn here, the keystones above the openings of the first floor and the window moldings of the second floor disappeared from the building. During the reign of Kuchma, reconstruction took place here, as part of which the building received a new semicircular pediment on the facade, "which became a new accent."
A number of famous Ukrainian figures received their education during the period of their work at the gymnasium. Among them are the scientist Mykhailo Maksymovych, the writer Panteleimon Kulish, the archaeologist Dmytro Samokvasov, the football player of Dynamo Kyiv, Viktor Khlus, etc.
