“The participants were mainly from Kyiv, Dnipro and Odessa. Most of them took part online. Each buyer had a personal art manager who accompanied him throughout the entire process. The biggest fight was for Maria Prymachenko’s work “Flowers in a Pot”, which went under the hammer for $60, with a starting price of $14.

"Also, for the first time, a painting by the young artist Nikita Tsoi was sold at auction. They paid $2 for the work "Beautiful but dysfunctional N1500," said Liliya Mykhaylik, director of Mercury Art Center, which includes the Mercury Auction House.

According to the senior art manager of the Auction House, Khrystyna Ivashyna, the work of Maria Prymachenko will be auctioned as part of the "Ukrainian Art of Independence" auction. "Flowers in a Pot" sold for a record amount. These are commercial auctions.

“Especially interesting is the fact that works of art from the period after 1991 were considered of lesser value. But the sale of Maria Prymachenko’s work in 1992 refutes this and confirms the value of works of art from the Independence period,” concludes Khrystyna Ivashyna.

The Mercury Auction House began its work in August 2024. It is the first art auction house in Western Ukraine.
