The visual concept of reconstruction was presented in the format books, Site and exhibitions.
"We will need tens of years, billions of euros, thousands of specialists to rebuild Mariupol. That is why a plan is needed now. It is worth buying time, because after the war it will be necessary to act deliberately and quickly. This work is the first step towards meeting this plan," said Serhii Rodionov.
The manifesto is based on the geographical features of the city, its historical past, as well as the experience of the reconstruction of Rotterdam - a city related to Mariupol in terms of size, population, presence of a large port and multicultural identity.
Here are the main points from the visual manifesto.
"The most valuable parts should be saved and reused in new buildings. Keeping free space in some places will also tell a lot.
It is necessary to rethink the functionality of metallurgy, mechanical engineering and the sea port. In the future, they will be with high-tech production, less dependence on fossil fuels, a smaller carbon footprint and healed soil.
At the same time, compact modern factories, residential areas, universities, laboratories, museums and parks should be built on the site of large industrial zones.
The architecture will be diverse. Artists, architects, designers, musicians, entrepreneurs and activists will test their ideas on the city's streets cleared of ruins. These will be quarters of experiments - modular housing, communal gardens, farms, public and cultural spaces created thanks to shared value.
The Azov coast and Kalmius embankment will be the center of public life, leisure, sports and recreation.
Instead of a Soviet monocity, Mariupol will become a Ukrainian model city. With well-thought-out infrastructure, transport connections, environmental awareness and identity."
