The project of restoration of the space around the House of Culture in Okhtyrka from urban planning students: visualization

Urban planning students Dasha Varenye and Dasha Koval developed the best project for the restoration of public space in Okhtyrka as part of the "Urbanistics" educational course.

About this reports the public organization STEM is FEM.

The girls' project "Pomist" became the best among the reconstruction proposals for locations destroyed by the war in three Ukrainian cities. All works were created by participants of the "Urbanistics" educational course aged 15 to 22.

Dasha Varenye and Dasha Koval propose to reorganize the area around the Okhtyr Culture House so that various events can be held there - fairs, stand-up performances, and movie nights.

In addition to spaces for events, the girls also planned a recreation area, a children's playground, and a place for a cafe.

During the research of the territory, the authors of "Pomostu" found out that the territory will be used mainly by pedestrians and cyclists. Therefore, the girls suggest reducing the number of cars at the location and creating a bicycle parking area.

Dasha Varenye is 19 years old. The girl is studying urbanism and city planning at KNU named after Shevchenko. Since the fall of last year, the girl took an academic leave and is currently a free student at Charles University in Prague, where she currently lives.

Dasha Koval is also 19, she lives in her native Kharkiv and studies architecture and urban planning. The girl is sure that one cannot help but be interested in urban planning — because it is something that really concerns all citizens. Dasha considers the most interesting thing in this field is the opportunity to create new meanings for society thanks to the environment.
