In 1973, Thierry Mugler created his first collection of women's clothing called Café de Paris, and in 1978 he opened his first boutique in Paris. The designer became famous thanks to a new vision of fashion - extravagant, sexy and daring.
He called the clothes of the golden age of Hollywood and the style of the 50s and 60s of the 80th century his inspiration. Mugler added features of the grotesque to Dior's "new bow" and images of legendary kinodes and spiced it up with elements of futurism and an explosive dose of sexuality. In addition, Mugler was often inspired by the theme of the LGBT+ community. Back in the XNUMXs, he was one of the first to invite transgender models to his shows.

The key image of the couturier was the domineering but flirtatious Amazon, and his favorite silhouette was an inverted triangle with wide, sharp shoulders and a clearly defined hourglass shape.

Although the legendary couturier retired from fashion in 2002, he remains a significant figure in the industry and his early designs are quite popular among the stars, with Mugler dressing Sharon Stone, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, George Michael and David Bowie, among others. The latter was so impressed by the designer's work that he ordered a suit from him for his wedding with supermodel Iman.

Recently, Kim Kardashian has often been spotted in Mugler outfits. She regularly appeared at their Met Gala evenings. The star's most talked about look is the latex dress with crystals in the shape of drops at the Met Gala 2019.

A landmark project of the fashion designer was the renovation of a classic French cabaret in 2009. The spectacular show program called Les Mugler Follies ("Mugler's Follies"), in which he acted as a costume designer, scenographer and director, is still a success in Paris and is a serious competitor even to the famous "Moulin Rouge".

In the fall of 2021, Mugler appeared at the large-scale exhibition Thierry Mugler, Couturrisime, which took place in Paris. The artist's most famous outfits were presented there, and his numerous friends attended the event in the designer's dresses.
