"Share the Light" is the name of the art installation created by Ukrainian artist, lighting designer, founder and art director of Expolight Mykola Kabluka. The author of the project dedicates it to Ukrainians who, due to the war, suffer from a lack of electricity and are forced to fight the darkness.
The art installation will last four days – from December 21 to Christmas, December 25. Opening hours: from 5:00 to 7:30 and from 17:00 to 23:00. All this time, the lighting equipment will operate from a generator.
The launch date was not chosen by chance - on this day the darkness reaches its peak.
"It is in the darkness that light becomes most important. Ukraine lives in a reality where our strength, unity, and faith are tested every day. But the light within us is unbreakable: despite the war, we continue to live, create, love, and support each other," Mykola Kabluka explains his plan. "With this art installation, I seek to unite citizens through a symbolic action — to share my resilience, bright memories, and hope through rays on the facade of the country's main train station."
The Central Railway Station in Kyiv is a landmark not only for the capital, but also for the entire country. This became especially noticeable after the full-scale invasion, when the station became a crossroads of human destinies for hundreds of thousands of citizens.
A QR code will be placed at the station, which will lead to an online application that controls the installation's lighting scheme. It allows you to choose one of three lighting colors, as well as a short inspirational text message.
“Red is the light of life and warmth, green is the light of rebirth and hope, blue is the light of thought and dreams. Everyone will be able to leave a personal light message on the facade of the station,” emphasizes Mykola Kabluka.
The art installation "Share the Light" launches a national online light campaign. On this day, showmen, writers, athletes, singers, actors, TV presenters and business leaders will publish their own bright moments, stories, ideas, discoveries that supported them this year on social networks. The author of the project Mykola Kabluka calls on Ukrainians to join the campaign and share their light online via Instagram-Add-yours “My bright moments of the year” in stories on the page Mykola Kabluky.
The project is being implemented by the Expolight Arts contemporary light art laboratory with the support of national carrier of goods and passengers JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia".
