Despite initial statements by the city military administration that the shutdown was temporary, all employees of the enterprise have been dismissed, and the rolling stock is being prepared for evacuation. About this reported the Alltransua.
This decision is of particular importance for Donbas: the tram in Druzhkivka was the last in the region to remain on Ukrainian-controlled territory.
The tram system operated for almost 80 years. It opened on December 5, 1945, with two motor cars on a single-track line 1,5 km long. During 1946–1947, the route was gradually expanded.

In later decades, the network suffered from a chronic lack of renewal. The first significant replenishment of rolling stock occurred only in 2015, when Druzhkivka received three Tatra-T3 cars from Kharkiv. In 2018, the fleet was supplemented with six cars, which underwent inspection and repair in Kharkiv.
In July 2021, a hurricane temporarily halted traffic, damaging the infrastructure. But even after the full-scale invasion began, the tram continued to operate — in almost pre-war mode.

In February 2023, the city ceased operation of KTM-5 cars.
On April 9, 2025, the depot was hit by a Shahed drone: the building and all rolling stock were damaged, one car was completely destroyed - Tatra T3SU No. 7010.
In June 2025, depot workers restored Tatra T3SUCS car No. 7088, using parts from the damaged 7010.
But after the October 2025 shelling, the history of the tram in Druzhkivka effectively ended.
