The square near the monument to Mickiewicz in the center of Lviv is planned to be reconstructed. In particular, it is about arranging an underground parking lot with entrances on both sides of the sculpture. The one-level underground parking will provide 40 spaces for cars. And one of the traffic lanes will be eliminated and transferred as an additional one in front of the monument.
The project will also free up part of the space where there is currently a parking lot and dumpsters. Instead, a pedestrian zone with benches and greenery will be arranged there.
"This will make it possible to remove unorganized parking and garbage containers from the square and to arrange a pedestrian zone in the area from the Mickiewicz monument to the square in front of the cathedral, which will significantly change the structure of the square with maximum use of the territory for the organization of public space, recreation of residents and tourists." - explained in the plan developed by LKP "Institute of Spatial Development".
Those interested are invited to join the discussion of the project on February 21 at 15:00 p.m. in the Powder Tower.
By the way, Lviv Real Estate Development Center LLP, which is building a 25-meter hotel nearby, approached the Lviv City Council with an initiative to develop a DPT in the area of Mickiewicz Square.
