У Pantone Color Institute described Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer as a color that resembles a clean canvas. “Cloud Dancer is a sublime white that feels like a breath of fresh air. It reflects our desire to live in a world that is balanced, kind, and deeply human,” the comments Dezeen Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute Lori Pressman.

Every year since 1999, Pantone has selected a color that most accurately captures the spirit of the year and the mood of the coming year. The color selection is based on year-long research spanning art, fashion, film, design, technology, major sporting events, and socio-economic trends.

According to Pressman, the decision to choose Cloud Dancer was a response to fatigue from “overwhelm and overstimulation” in a culture of constant rush.
“Cloud Dancer embodies our desire for a future free of toxicity and excess,” she said. Pressman also emphasized that the balance of warm and cool undertones gives the color “a naturalness and humanity.”
Cloud Dancer is a “subtle transition” from Mocha Mousse, the chocolate shade that Pantone chose for 2025, reflecting the “culture of small joys.”
Pantone emphasizes that the politically tense global situation also affects the context of color trends, but does not complicate the selection process itself.
