The second block of the new building of the "Okhmatdet" children's hospital was finally opened in Kyiv. In general, the new medical and diagnostic complex combined 10 modern surgical departments, 5 oncological departments, as well as a hematology and diagnostic department.

Different color solutions for each department, bright navigation, single and double wards with bathrooms and modern furniture, a library, game rooms - in terms of design, the state hospital is seriously close to modern private clinics. Of course, the main thing is equipment. Due to the pandemic, the equipment was installed only by mid-summer.

"Okhmatdet" will be able to conduct four times more bone marrow transplantation operations. This is priceless," said Yury Golyk, coordinator of the "Big Construction" presidential program.

Let us remind you that the large-scale project started back in 2011, but due to interruptions in the financing of the work on the object, it stopped working. At the start of construction, the Cabinet of Ministers promised that the new building would symbolize not only progress in Ukrainian healthcare, but also in architecture.

The irony is that the name of the architect of this symbol remains unknown to the general public. The construction project was developed by Ukrprofmed LLC, which later became a suspect in a criminal case on the protection of budget funds. Neither an architectural competition nor even a presentation of an architectural project was held.

Over the course of 9 years, the building was redesigned several times, the estimate was revised every now and then, contractors were changed, and each stage was accompanied by loud scandals, arrests and lawsuits. The cost of project implementation exceeded UAH 5 billion.
