Edition The 312-page volume for the first time brings together under one cover copies of sketches and photographs of painted huts from the Dnieper region, Slobozhan region, Zaporizhzhia, the Black Sea region, and Podillia.
The book also contains excerpts from historical publications about this art and tells about researchers who documented house paintings, often risking their own freedom and lives.
The authors of the concept and project managers are Svitlana Oslavska and Anna Ilchenko. Galya Vergeles was responsible for the design and layout of the publication.
“Flowers” introduces readers to the work of folk painters who, without academic art education, created complex ornaments, floral compositions, and decorative motifs, drawing on local artistic traditions and their own sense of harmony.
The publication will have a bilingual format, with key texts translated into English, which will allow presenting Ukrainian cultural heritage to an international audience.
Pre-orders will take place in two stages. Until June 28, the book can be ordered for UAH 2100, from June 29 to July 20 — for UAH 2300. After July 21, the full price of the publication will apply. The publishers plan to send the first copies in August.
We remind you that in 2023, the publishing house “Choven” released an artbook Old Khata Book with photos of authentic village huts.
