It's official: monuments to Catherine II and Suvorov are being dismantled in Odessa

It is known that the Odesa City Council during the meeting supported the decision to demolish and relocate the monument to the "Founders of Odessa" in the city center with the sculpture of Catherine II and the monument to Oleksandr Suvorov. 

In particular, 43 deputies voted for dismantling the monument to Catherine II, one did not vote. 41 deputies supported the relocation of the Suvorov monument, three did not vote.

The sculptures are going to be transferred to the museum for temporary storage. Previously, the mayor of the city, Gennady Trukhanov, proposed to create a park of the imperial past, where the monuments of Catherine II and Suvorov can be moved later. 

We will remind, at the end of September, the Odesa City Council failed voting for the dismantling of the monument to Catherine II. However, in October, the idea was supported by the public, which expressed itself within the framework of a thematic online survey.
