New capacities may appear in two years.

About this reports the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets in a Facebook post.

"A memorandum of cooperation and partnership was signed with the head of the Kyiv regional state administration Oleksiy Kuleba, Boryspil mayor Volodymyr Borysenko, Brovary mayor Igor Sapozhko and Fastiv mayor Mykhailo Netyazhuk. And in fact, agreements on joint efforts for the construction of modern waste processing facilities in the region were confirmed," the official said.

Thus, two modern plants for processing household waste will be built on the territories of Boryspil, Brovar and Fastiv communities. In particular, they plan to use several processing technologies. For example, processing of organic (food waste) with subsequent production of biomethane will be carried out, as well as deep sorting of waste with the selection of valuable materials - scrap metal, glass and plastic.

The planned capacity of the joint plant for Brovarska and Boryspil communities will approximately be 110-120 thousand tons of waste per year. In Fastivska hromada - 35 - 100 thousand tons, respectively.

"We will implement the projects at the expense of loans from European banks. Negotiations with investors are also ongoing. After all, the framework law, which Ukraine and potential investors have been waiting for for so long, creates transparent conditions and guarantees for work in this sector", - explains Strelets and recalls the law "On waste management" previously adopted by the deputies.

The minister also reports that a draft plan for the location of waste processing facilities throughout Ukraine has been created, where more than 200 potential investment cases have been identified. So, up to ten new enterprises are planned to be built in Kyiv region.
