The Odesa City Council failed to vote for the dismantling of the monument to Catherine II

About the unsuccessful voting by the deputies of the city council reported the a correspondent of Suspilny, who was present at the meeting. 

17 deputies voted "for" dismantling - that's 44% of those present; 54% abstained from voting; No one spoke "against" the demolition.

Deputy in the Odesa City Council, Petro Obukhov, in more detail Told me, who and how from the representatives of various parties voted:

  • EC - 7 out of 10 for.
  • CH - 3 out of 10 for.
  • Former OPZZH - 7 out of 18 for.
  • "Trust things" - 0 out of 20.
  • "Shariitsi" - 0 out of 6.

A total of 33 "yes" votes are needed to pass the decision.

We will remind, the day before the mayor of Odesa, Genadiy Trukhanov answered in the affirmative, whether he supports the idea of ​​moving the monument to Catherine II from the city center. The official suggested setting up a park of the Soviet and imperial periods and placing the sculpture there. However, on September 28, Trukhanov's party "Trust the Works" abstained from voting for the dismantling of the monument.
