Portraits of Russian Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra were found in houses on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

"The Lavra used by the UOC MP are portraits of Russian emperors who probably "guarded" the monastery. All this is no longer surprising," the minister responded to such a find

On July 6, representatives of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" together with the police sealed the 70th building, where the residence of the rector of the UOC Onufriy, 71st and 69th was located. In the latter, in fact, portraits of the Russian emperor and his wife were found.

Nicholas II was the last emperor of the Russian Empire, who was shot and burned by Chekists together with his family. In 2000, the Russian Orthodox Church canonized him.

Now in Ukraine, believers of the UOC MP pray to the icon of Nicholas II - in particular, in the Church of the Ascension of the Cross in Lutsk. The icon depicts the emperor in the cap of Monomachus, surrounded by his family. Relevant photos published Volyn Diocese.

It will be recalled that on June 29, the UOC lost the court in the case of its alleged illegal eviction from the Lavra. After that, employees of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" began to return the property of the Nizhny Lavra to the state.
